NJPA Career Benefits

Work Hours
Work hours are as stated in each employee's Master Agreement, if applicable. The typical work day for employees housed at the Staples NJPA office is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., which includes a half-hour unpaid, duty-free lunch. Others may vary by location. Each person is responsible for making sure the annual contract days/hours are met and that any earned compensatory time is appropriately taken.

Pay Periods
Pay periods run from Sunday to Saturday, and pay dates are on a biweekly schedule, with 26 pay periods per contract year.

Direct Deposit
Direct deposit of paychecks is available for employees who desire this service.

Holidays
All full-time NJPA employees are eligible for ten (10) paid holidays per year. Employees working part-time will receive a pro-rated amount of holidays.

Vacation
All full-time NJPA employees are eligible for vacation as defined within their Master Agreement. Employees working part-time will receive a prorated amount of vacation.

Employees of NJPA have the right to resign their position at any time, with or without notice, and with or without cause. NJPA retains a similar right, subject to any statutory or constitutional restrictions placed upon it as a public employer.

Health Insurance
NJPA agrees to provide a group health insurance plan for all Full-time employees. Participation is defined within the Master Agreement. The selection of the insurance carrier and policy shall be made by NJPA as provided by law.

Optional Dental
NJPA employees have the option of voluntary preventative dental coverage.

Life and Long Term Disability Insurance
NJPA agrees to provide a $50,000 group term life insurance policy and group long term disability insurance. Participation is defined within the Master Agreement. The selection of the insurance carrier and policy shall be made by the NJPA as provided by law.

Retirement Benefits
In June and December of each year, each employee will meet with a financial advisor and be given the opportunity to participate in NJPA’s retirement planning opportunities. Employees may be able to use pre-tax dollars to help fund their retirements. NJPA does not currently match the employee’s contribution.

Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA)
NJPA is a municipal agency comprised of public employees. All employees contribute to this program upon employment. http://www.mnpera.org/
