Rebate Program Frequently Asked Questions

View some of the common questions and answers for the NJPA Region 5 Full-voting Members Rebate Program.

Q. "What do I do next?"
A. Review the step-by-step guide in helping you spend and collect your rebate dollars. If at any point you have questions regarding this policy, please call Duff Erholtz, Manager of Membership Services, at 218-894-5490 or e-mail duff.erholtz@njpacoop.org.

Q. "When did the rebate program begin?"
A. In January of 2010, the National Joint Powers Alliance® Board of Directors took a monumental step in making reality of something we've envisioned for quite some time. Following the unanimous vote of all Board members, NJPA set forth a policy that will allow monetary rebates to many of our Full-Voting Members. These rebates consist of Membership fees paid in by your organization many years ago. As programs grew and NJPA was sustained on other revenue sources, local Membership fees were eliminated. Our Board feels it's only right to return these fees to their contributors with the requirement that the rebate dollars be spent on goods and services available through any number of NJPA's contracts.

Q. "Why don't I get a rebate?"
A. The rebate is limited to full-voting Members within Minnesota Region 5.
NJPA was originally intended to serve its immediate five-county area as an educational service cooperative. Initially named ECSU-5 (Educational Cooperative Service Unit), NJPA offered services to schools geographically located in Minnesota ECSU Region 5. Through additional legislation passed in 1995 and the implementation of National Contract Purchasing, NJPA has since expanded its Membership beyond its original services and boundaries. While NJPA now has over 30,000 Members nationwide, it still exists to serve the unique cooperative service needs of its founding region in the areas of academic, risk management, staff development, safety and other services—unique to contract purchasing.

Q. "Can I use the rebate to pay for health insurance expenses?"
A. No. The rebate is limited to the competitively bid products, equipment and services found in our Contract Directory.
