NJPA Announces Statewide Partnership with MN Association of School Administrators

NJPA Announces National Contract Award to Federal Contracts Corporation
October 18, 2007 –NJPA awards national contract to Federal Contract Corporation under the NJPA Invitation for Bid (IFB) #100907 “Heavy, Agriculture, Snow, Utility Equipment and Related Accessories and Supplies.” This award is the result of a national competitively solicited invitation for bid. This contract award will allow government municipalities and educational customers to purchase at a nationally leveraged contract pricing while avoiding the duplication of the competitive bid process.

“The variety in scope of product selection and exceptional quality of manufactures was the primary determining factors for this contract award. The award is the result of national competitive invitation for bid (IFB) #100907 for supplying “Heavy, Agriculture, Snow, Utility Equipment and Related Accessories and Supplies.”

The contract allows NJPA members–governmental organizations, such as municipalities, and educational institutions–to purchase at nationally leveraged contract pricing while avoiding the duplication of the competitive bid process. NJPA members will have access to state-of-the-art equipment and unparalleled service through their local Bobcat dealers.

NJPA Announces Duff Erholtz as National Sales Manager
September 17, 2007 – Staples, MN – National Joint Powers Alliance® (NJPA) is pleased to announce Duff Erholtz as its new National Sales Manager. As National Sales Manager, Duff will play a prominent role in both customer and vendor relations throughout the nation. He is responsible for communicating to over 19,000 government and education members as well as providing leadership to NJPA contract managers by promoting an effective sales strategy, developing customer service initiatives, and identifying potential growth patterns within the organization’s nationally acclaimed vendor partners.

Duff has over 25 years of management experience in the service hospitality industry. TYLER TECHNOLOGIES LANDS DEAL WITH NEWPORT NEWS, VA
August 29, 2007 – Dallas, TX – Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) announced today that the City of Newport News, Virginia, has signed a contract for the purchase of its MUNIS Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software solution. The contract, valued at nearly $2.8 million, includes a full suite of MUNIS financial and human resource applications, as well as professional services, ongoing maintenance and support.

The agreement, which includes the purchase of Operating System Database Administration services, makes the City the second public sector agency in Newport News to purchase Tyler’s MUNIS financial management solution, following the public school district’s selection of the ERP solution in 2006. Newport News Public Schools has recently completed implementation of the financials product suite. Richard Peterson, Jr., president of Tyler’s MUNIS Financial Management Solutions, commented on the agreement, “Tyler Technologies has earned a reputation for providing exceptional software solutions to local government agencies throughout the United States.

We’re pleased to welcome the City of Newport News to our growing client base in Virginia, and are honored that the City has selected our MUNIS system to meet its financial software needs.” According to Randy Hildebrandt, Newport News city manager, the City began planning for the replacement of its core business software in 2003. “Our committee quickly determined that while our existing systems were integrated and performing adequately, they were not providing the functionality available with modern software such as Tyler’s MUNIS solution. In addition to not being user friendly, gathering data for reporting was cumbersome and the applications lacked a Graphical User Interface. More importantly, we were very concerned about the age of our existing applications and their underlying technological base. With continued vendor support for our older software uncertain, a decision was made to seek a modern solution,” he stated.

In 2007, the City began discussions with Tyler, eventually making the decision to purchase the MUNIS solution via a cooperative contract offered through the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA). Hildebrandt believes the implementation of Tyler’s MUNIS financial management software will be one of the most significant changes to the City’s business practices over the next ten to fifteen years. “The City has more than 1,500 employees using components of the legacy systems that MUNIS will replace—each will require training on MUNIS. Clearly, this transition will be challenging for us as an agency. However, we believe that the significant improvements we gain from MUNIS—data availability, reporting, query, functionality, and reliability—will be well worth the effort,” he explained.

OAKLAND SCHOOLS DELIVERS SAVINGS TO SCHOOLS THROUGH PARTNERSHIP WITH NJPA
June 21, 2007 – Waterford, MI – The Oakland Schools Board of Education has unanimously approved entering into a partnership with the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA), a national contracting agency specializing in cooperative purchasing, governed by publicly elected officials. NJPA’s purpose is to serve its membership by bringing national volume pricing to them through competitively bid contracts and agreements. Through the NJPA/Oakland Schools partnership, public schools in Oakland County and the State of Michigan could save 18-25% in purchasing costs by choosing between several national competitively bid contracts for supplies, materials, equipment, and services. Schools will also save valuable time spent by purchasing staff to develop and send out Requests for Proposal, analyze bids, and conduct other purchasing functions.

This free service is the sixth such cooperative resource that Oakland Schools has added to a growing number of money-saving services for school districts. As a result of the partnership, Oakland Schools is now in a position to deliver a comprehensive assortment of cost-saving national contracts for essential goods and services to schools throughout Michigan.
