Emanuel’s contracting plan advances – Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s push to give his administration more flexibility in how it awards contracts moved a step closer to passage Tuesday, even as observers worried the plan would undermine rules meant to ensure government work is assigned fairly.  The City Council Budget Committee advanced the mayor’s proposal to expand the types of contracts the city can award to companies for reasons other than simply having the lowest bid. Hiring rebounds for state, local governments – States, cities, counties and school districts hired 828,000 workers in the first four months of the year, up 20% from a year earlier, and the most since 2008, according to a USA TODAY analysis of the government’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey. What states spend the least, per-capita? Nevada is at top of list – Govpro looked at the numbers and found that Nevada spends the least per-capita on government. The other top five states with lowest per-capita spends are Texas, Georgia, Florida and Illinois. NJPA Awarded National Contract to Flex-O-Lite

Staples, MN (August 21, 2012) – The National Joint Powers Alliance® (NJPA) awarded a national contract to Flex-O-Lite, through which NJPA members can purchase hi-performance Type III glass beads.  These reflective beads, along with Flex-O-Lite’s specialized calibration tools and technical support, work to ensure a higher level of airport safety throughout North America. “Flex-O-Lite is the leading supplier of reflective glass beads to airports.  Through this contract, a greater number of airports can contribute to improving the level of safety they provide by using Flex-O-Lite’s high quality, reflective glass beads at a competitive price,” said Mike Hajek, NJPA’s Director of Contracts & Marketing.

NJPA Awarded National Contract to ESM Solutions

Staples, MN – August 14, 2012 – The National Joint Powers Alliance® (NJPA) today announced it awarded its first national Electronic Marketplace contract to ESM Solutions, through which NJPA members can purchase sourcing and purchasing applications.  Each year ESM Solutions helps over 4,000 school and government entities meet their procurement goals through their software and marketplace applications.  The contract will help NJPA members streamline their procurement process and enhance their spend management capabilities through integrated solutions.

NJPA Awarded National Contract to Wastequip

Staples, MN (August 8, 2012) – In response to a national solicitation and resulting competitive bid and evaluation process, the National Joint Powers Alliance® (NJPA) has awarded Wastequip a national contract for “Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Equipment with Related Equipment, Accessories, and Supplies.”  NJPA awarded contract #060612-WQI to Wastequip on July 17, 2012.  ”We feel the Front, Side, and Rear-loading containers, Roll-off containers, Recycling and Plastic front load containers, Compaction equipment, Balers, Digesters, Organics 2 Go equipment, Mobile equipment including “above frame” and “hook hoist” trucks, and loaded container handler solutions available through this contract will provide great value to NJPA and our members.  Additionally, the commitment Wastequip has made to “green manufacturing,” and also to engaging NJPA and our members in determining solutions that will assist in meeting LEED certifications standards, helps make Wastequip a sensible choice for a solutions partner,” stated NJPA Contract Manager Jeremy Schwartz.

Staples, MN (June 22, 2012) – In response to a national solicitation and resulting competitive bid and evaluation process, the National Joint Powers Alliance® (NJPA) has awarded Neopost a national contract for “Postage Meters and related Mailing Equipment, Software, Accessories and Supplies”, for their complete line of mailing and shipping solutions in all of the advertised mailing and shipping categories.  NJPA awarded, on June 17, 2012, Neopost for its full line of mailing and shipping solutions.  “We are confident in the full breadth of solutions Neopost is capable of providing.  From various cutting edge products and services, industry expertise for assessing a company’s mailing requirements to quality customer service,”stated NJPA Director of Contracts and Marketing Mike Hajek.

State, Local Government Employment Remains Flat in Jobs Report – State and local government employment remained mostly unchanged in March, continuing a trend of flat jobs growth. The Labor Department reported Friday that local governments lost a total of 3,000 jobs in March, with February figures revised upward by 2,000. The public education sector accounted for nearly all of the cuts. Read More….

NJPA Awarded National Contract to Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company

NJPA Awarded National Contract to Pitney Bowes

Staples, MN (May 6, 2012) – National Joint Powers Alliance® (NJPA) is pleased to announce the awarding of Pitney Bowes the contract for “POSTAGE METERS AND RELATED MAILING EQUIPMENT, SOFTWARE, ASSESSORIES AND SUPPLIES”.
